NAME: Tifa Lockhart

FANDOM: Final Fantasy VII

TIMELINE PERIOD: During Advent Children, after the fight with Loz.

BACKGROUND: A cheerful, optimistic bartender, Tifa Lockhart was born in the quaint mountain town of Nibelheim, and when Final Fantasy VII begins, is introduced as the close, childhood friend of Cloud Strife. She is a skilled martial artist, having been trained by the world-famous martial artist, Zangan, throughout her childhood. Her bar, located in Midgar's Sector 7 is (aptly) named Seventh Heaven, and serves as a secret headquarters for the anti-Shinra terrorist group, AVALANCHE.

Like Cloud, Tifa holds a grudge against Shinra and the legendary first class SOLDIER, Sephiroth. Five years prior, Sephiroth burned down her hometown and murdered her father. Tifa, overcome by rage and despair, took Sephiroth's sword, the Masumune, and went after him in Mt. Nibel's mako reactor. Sephiroth effortlessly disarmed her and gravely wounded her, slashing her across the chest with the blade and leaving her to die on the reactor's stairwell. Zangan found her and took her to Midgar, leaving her in the care of a doctor. It was there that she met Barrett and joined AVALANCHE.

It is revealed throughout the course of the journey that Cloud is deeply confused and perhaps traumatized over past events--and that Tifa, out of fear for his mental health, helps perpetuate these illusions. When she and Cloud are plunged into the Lifestream in Mideel, Tifa finally reveals the truth, and both she and Cloud learn what happened in Nibelheim five years ago. Cloud, after not being able to make SOLDIER status, had been sent on the mission to Nibelheim with Sephiroth and the first-class soldier, Zack Fair. Out of shame, he'd not revealed his identity to Tifa. However, he watched over her the entire time he was there, and most importantly kept the promise they'd made seven years before: protecting her when she was in danger.

After the group defeats Sephiroth and destroys Meteor with the aid of the Lifestream and the spirit of their deceased comrade, Aerith, Cloud, Tifa and the others open an orphanage for misplaced children in the city, Edge. It is during this time that the mysterious Jenova cell related illness, Geostigma, is revealed, and three silver haired men bearing a resemblance to Sephiroth begin to wreak havoc.

After being incapacitated during a fight with one of these men, Tifa awakens in Rivelata.

THIRD PERSON: Tifa awoke as if shocked out of her sleep, and immediately put a hand to her abdomen, wincing. That strange, silver-haired man had been tougher than she'd given him credit for. Dangerous. She'd remember next time to be cautious.

The martial artist gingerly stood up, wobbling slightly on her feet. The pain in her stomach was a dull ache now, but it was still unpleasant. She leaned against a wall and took a few, deep breaths to steady herself.

That was when she realized something was wrong.

Marlene was missing, as was the silver-haired man, and more importantly, she was no longer in Aerith's church. She caught the faintest scent of salt water in the air, something she'd not experienced since her time adventuring, and before that, at Nibelheim's lighthouse. She was on a boat, and for some inexplicable, disturbing reason, her clothing was torn and covered in sand, her hair practically caked with it.

She ran a shaking, gloved hand through her hair to comb out some of the sand and took a closer look at her surroundings. By her side was a journal, but what good would that do? And she felt strange...weak, somehow, as if something integral had snapped inside of her. What was this place?

Had Sephiroth done this?

Had...Aerith?
